These are the names of letters from the Arabic alphabet, and only Allah knows their meaning here. 2 The Wise Quran وَالْقُرْآنِ الْحَكِيمِ Wal-Qur-aanil-Hakeem By the wise Qur'an. 3 Indeed You Are Among The Messengers إِنَّكَ لَمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ Innaka laminal-mursaleen Indeed you, [O Muhammad], are from among the messengers. 4 On A Straight Path عَلَىٰ صِرَاطٍ مُسْتَقِيمٍ ‘alaa siraatim mustaqeem On a straight path. 5 Revelation From The Almighty, The Merciful تَنزِيلَ الْعَزِيزِ الرَّحِيمِ Tanzeelal-‘Azeezir-Raheem [This is] a revelation of the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 6 To Warn A People Whose Forefathers Were Not Warned لِتُنذِرَ قَوْمًا مَّا أُنذِرَ آبَاؤُهُمْ فَهُمْ غَافِلُونَ Litunthira qawman maa unthira aabaa-uhum fahum ghaafiloon That you may warn a people whose forefathers were not warned, so they are unaware. 7 The Word Has Come True لَقَدْ حَقَّ الْقَوْلُ عَلَىٰ أَكْثَرِهِمْ فَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ Laqad haqqal-qawlu ‘alaa aktharihim fahum laa yu’minoon Already the word has come into effect upon most of them, so they do not believe. 8 Chains Around Their Necks إِنَّا جَعَلْنَا فِي أَعْنَاقِهِمْ أَغْلَالًا فَهِيَ إِلَى الْأَذْقَانِ فَهُم مُّقْمَحُونَ Innaa ja‘alnaa fee a‘naaqihim aghlaalan fahiya ilal-athqaani fahum muqmahoon Indeed, We have put shackles on their necks, and they are to their chins, so they are with heads [kept] aloft. 9 Barriers Before and Behind وَجَعَلْنَا مِن بَيْنِ أَيْدِيهِمْ سَدًّا وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِمْ سَدًّا فَأَغْشَيْنَاهُمْ فَهُمْ لَا يُبْصِرُونَ Waja‘alnaa min bayni aydeehim saddan wamin khalfihim saddan fa-aghshaynaahum fahum laa yubsiroon And We have put before them a barrier and behind them a barrier and covered them, so they do not see. 10 Equal Whether Warned or Not وَسَوَاءٌ عَلَيْهِمْ أَأَنذَرْتَهُمْ أَمْ لَمْ تُنذِرْهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ Wasawaa’un ‘alayhim a-anthartahum am lam tunthirhum laa yu’minoon And it is all the same for them whether you warn them or do not warn them - they will not believe. 11 Those Who Follow the Reminder إِنَّمَا تُنذِرُ مَنِ اتَّبَعَ الذِّكْرَ وَخَشِيَ الرَّحْمَٰنَ بِالْغَيْبِ ۖ فَبَشِّرْهُ بِمَغْفِرَةٍ وَأَجْرٍ كَرِيمٍ Innamaa tunthiru manit-taba‘ath-thikra wakhashiyar-Rahmaana bil-ghaybi fabashshirhu bimaghfiratin wa-ajrin kareem You can only warn one who follows the Reminder and fears the Most Merciful unseen. So give him good tidings of forgiveness and noble reward. 12 We Give Life to the Dead إِنَّا نَحْنُ نُحْيِي الْمَوْتَىٰ وَنَكْتُبُ مَا قَدَّمُوا وَآثَارَهُمْ ۚ وَكُلَّ شَيْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَاهُ فِي إِمَامٍ مُّبِينٍ Innaa nahnu nuhyil-mawtaa wanaktubu maa qaddamoo wa-aathaarahum wakulla shay-in ahsaynaahu fee imaamim mubeen Indeed, it is We who bring the dead to life and record what they have put forth and what they left behind, and all things We have enumerated in a clear register. 13 The Parable of the Town وَاضْرِبْ لَهُم مَّثَلًا أَصْحَابَ الْقَرْيَةِ إِذْ جَاءَهَا الْمُرْسَلُونَ Wadhrib lahum mathalan ashaabal-qaryati ith jaa-ahal-mursaleen And present to them an example: the people of the city, when the messengers came to it - 14 Sending Messengers إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَا إِلَيْهِمُ اثْنَيْنِ فَكَذَّبُوهُمَا فَعَزَّزْنَا بِثَالِثٍ فَقَالُوا إِنَّا إِلَيْكُم مُّرْسَلُونَ Ith arsalnaa ilayhimu ithnayni fakaththaboohumaa fa‘azzaznaa bithaalithin faqaaloo innaa ilaykum mursaloon When We sent to them two but they denied them, so We strengthened them with a third, and they said, "Indeed, we are messengers to you." 15 Denial of the Messengers قَالُوا مَا أَنتُمْ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا وَمَا أَنزَلَ الرَّحْمَٰنُ مِن شَيْءٍ إِنْ أَنتُمْ إِلَّا تَكْذِبُونَ Qaaloo maa antum illaa basharun mithlunaa wamaa anzalar-Rahmaanu min shay-in in antum illaa takthiboon They said, "You are not but human beings like us, and the Most Merciful has not revealed a thing. You are only telling lies." 16 The Messengers' Response قَالُوا رَبُّنَا يَعْلَمُ إِنَّا إِلَيْكُمْ لَمُرْسَلُونَ Qaaloo rabbunaa ya‘lamu innaa ilaykum lamursaloon They said, "Our Lord knows that we are messengers to you, 17 Delivering the Message وَمَا عَلَيْنَا إِلَّا الْبَلَاغُ الْمُبِينُ Wamaa ‘alaynaa illal-balaaghul-mubeen And we are not responsible except for clear notification." 18 The People's Threat قَالُوا إِنَّا تَطَيَّرْنَا بِكُمْ ۖ لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهُوا لَنَرْجُمَنَّكُمْ وَلَيَمَسَّنَّكُم مِّنَّا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ Qaaloo innaa tatayyarnaa bikum la-in lam tantahoo lanarjumannakum walayamassannakum minnaa ‘athaabun aleem They said, "Indeed, we consider you a bad omen. If you do not desist, we will surely stone you, and there will surely touch you, from us, a painful punishment." 19 The Messengers' Rebuttal قَالُوا طَائِرُكُمْ مَعَكُمْ ۖ أَئِن ذُكِّرْتُم ۚ بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٌ مُّسْرِفُونَ Qaaloo taa-irukum ma‘akum a-in thukkirtum bal antum qawmun musrifoon They said, "Your omen is with yourselves. Is it because you were reminded? Rather, you are a transgressing people." 20 A Man from the City وَجَاءَ مِنْ أَقْصَى الْمَدِينَةِ رَجُلٌ يَسْعَىٰ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اتَّبِعُوا الْمُرْسَلِينَ Wajaa-a min aqsalmadeenati rajulun yas‘aa qaala yaa qawmit-tabi‘ool-mursaleen And there came from the farthest end of the city a man, running. He said, "O my people, follow the messengers. 21 Follow Those Who Ask No Reward اتَّبِعُوا مَن لَّا يَسْأَلُكُمْ أَجْرًا وَهُم مُّهْتَدُونَ Ittabi‘oo man laa yas-alukum ajran wahum muhtadoon Follow those who do not ask of you [any] payment, and they are [rightly] guided. 22 Why Should I Not Worship? وَمَا لِيَ لَا أَعْبُدُ الَّذِي فَطَرَنِي وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ Wamaa liya laa a‘budul-latheee fataranee wa-ilayhi turja‘oon And why should I not worship He who created me and to whom you will be returned? 23 Shall I Take Other Gods? أَأَتَّخِذُ مِن دُونِهِ آلِهَةً إِن يُرِدْنِ الرَّحْمَٰنُ بِضُرٍّ لَّا تُغْنِ عَنِّي شَفَاعَتُهُمْ شَيْئًا وَلَا يُنقِذُونِ A-attakhithu min doonihi aalihatan in yuridnir-Rahmaanu bidurrin laa tughnee ‘annee shafaa‘atuhum shay-an walaa yunqithoon Should I take other gods besides Him? If the Most Merciful intends for me some adversity, their intercession will not avail me at all, nor can they save me. 24 I Would Be in Error إِنِّي إِذًا لَّفِي ضَلَالٍ مُّبِينٍ Innee ithan lafee dalaalim mubeen Indeed, I would then be in manifest error. 25 I Believe in Your Lord إِنِّي آمَنتُ بِرَبِّكُمْ فَاسْمَعُونِ Innee aamantu birabbikum fasma‘oon Indeed, I have believed in your Lord, so listen to me." 26 Enter Paradise قِيلَ ادْخُلِ الْجَنَّةَ ۖ قَالَ يَا لَيْتَ قَوْمِي يَعْلَمُونَ Qeela dkhulil-jannata qaala yaa layta qawmee ya‘lamoon It was said, "Enter Paradise." He said, "I wish my people could know 27 Forgiveness and Honor بِمَا غَفَرَ لِي رَبِّي وَجَعَلَنِي مِنَ الْمُكْرَمِينَ Bimaa ghafara lee rabbee waja‘alanee minal-mukrameen Of how my Lord has forgiven me and placed me among the honored." 28 No Army Sent Down وَمَا أَنزَلْنَا عَلَىٰ قَوْمِهِ مِن بَعْدِهِ مِن جُندٍ مِّنَ السَّمَاءِ وَمَا كُنَّا مُنزِلِينَ Wamaa anzalnaa ‘alaa qawmihi min ba‘dihi min jundin minas-samaa-i wamaa kunnaa munzileen And We did not send down upon his people after him any soldiers from the heaven, nor would We have done so. 29 A Single Shout إِن كَانَتْ إِلَّا صَيْحَةً وَاحِدَةً فَإِذَا هُمْ خَامِدُونَ In kaanat illaa sayhatan waahidatan fa-ithaa hum khaamidoon It was not but one shout, and immediately they were extinguished. 30 Regret of the Servants يَا حَسْرَةً عَلَى الْعِبَادِ ۚ مَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ Yaa hasratan ‘alal-‘ibaadi maa ya’teehim min rasoolin illaa kaanoo bihi yastahzi-oon Oh, the regret of the servants. No messenger comes to them but that they ridicule him. 31 Destroyed Generations أَلَمْ يَرَوْا كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُم مِّنَ الْقُرُونِ أَنَّهُمْ إِلَيْهِمْ لَا يَرْجِعُونَ Alam yaraw kam ahlaknaa qablahum minal-qurooni annahum ilayhim laa yarji‘oon Do they not see how many generations We destroyed before them, that they to them will not return? 32 All Will Be Brought وَإِن كُلٌّ لَّمَّا جَمِيعٌ لَّدَيْنَا مُحْضَرُونَ Wa-in kullun lammaa jamee‘un ladaynaa muhdaroon And indeed, all of them will yet be brought present before Us. 33 Sign of the Dead Earth وَآيَةٌ لَّهُمُ الْأَرْضُ الْمَيْتَةُ أَحْيَيْنَاهَا وَأَخْرَجْنَا مِنْهَا حَبًّا فَمِنْهُ يَأْكُلُونَ Wa-aayatun lahumul-ardul-maytatu ahyaynaahaa wa-akhrajnaa minhaa habban faminhu ya’kuloon And a sign for them is the dead earth. We have brought it to life and brought forth from it grain, and from it they eat. 34 Gardens and Springs وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا جَنَّاتٍ مِّن نَّخِيلٍ وَأَعْنَابٍ وَفَجَّرْنَا فِيهَا مِنَ الْعُيُونِ Waja‘alnaa feehaa jannaatin min nakheelin wa-a‘naabin wafajjarnaa feehaa minal-‘uyoon And We placed therein gardens of palm trees and grapevines and caused to burst forth therefrom some springs - 35 That They May Eat لِيَأْكُلُوا مِن ثَمَرِهِ وَمَا عَمِلَتْهُ أَيْدِيهِمْ ۖ أَفَلَا يَشْكُرُونَ Liya’kuloo min thamarihi wamaa ‘amilat-hu aydeehim afalaa yashkuroon That they may eat of His fruit. And their hands have not produced it, so will they not be grateful? 36 Pairs of Creation سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ الْأَزْوَاجَ كُلَّهَا مِمَّا تُنبِتُ الْأَرْضُ وَمِنْ أَنفُسِهِمْ وَمِمَّا لَا يَعْلَمُونَ Subhaanal-latheee khalaqal-azwaaja kullahaa mimmaa tunbitul-ardu wamin anfusihim wamimmaa laa ya‘lamoon Exalted is He who created all pairs - from what the earth grows and from themselves and from that which they do not know. 37 Sign of the Night وَآيَةٌ لَّهُمُ اللَّيْلُ نَسْلَخُ مِنْهُ النَّهَارَ فَإِذَا هُم مُّظْلِمُونَ Wa-aayatun lahumul-laylu naslakhu minhun-nahaara fa-ithaa hum muthlimoon And a sign for them is the night. We remove from it the [light of] day, so they are [left] in darkness. 38 The Sun's Course وَالشَّمْسُ تَجْرِي لِمُسْتَقَرٍّ لَّهَا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ تَقْدِيرُ الْعَزِيزِ الْعَلِيمِ Wash-shamsu tajree limustaqarrin lahaa thaalika taqdeerul-‘Azeezil-‘Aleem And the sun runs [on course] toward its stopping point. That is the determination of the Exalted in Might, the Knowing. 39 Phases of the Moon وَالْقَمَرَ قَدَّرْنَاهُ مَنَازِلَ حَتَّىٰ عَادَ كَالْعُرْجُونِ الْقَدِيمِ Walqamara qaddarnaahu manaazila hattaa ‘aada kal‘urjoonil-qadeem And the moon - We have determined for it phases, until it returns [appearing] like the old date stalk. 40 Orbits of Celestial Bodies لَا الشَّمْسُ يَنبَغِي لَهَا أَن تُدْرِكَ الْقَمَرَ وَلَا اللَّيْلُ سَابِقُ النَّهَارِ ۚ وَكُلٌّ فِي فَلَكٍ يَسْبَحُونَ Lash-shamsu yanbaghee lahaa an tudrikal-qamara walal-laylu saabiqun-nahaari wakullun fee falakin yasbahoon It is not allowable for the sun to reach the moon, nor does the night overtake the day, but each, in an orbit, is swimming. 41 Sign of the Ship وَآيَةٌ لَّهُمْ أَنَّا حَمَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ فِي الْفُلْكِ الْمَشْحُونِ Wa-aayatun lahum annaa hamalnaa thurriyyatahum fil-fulkil-mashhoon And a sign for them is that We carried their forefathers in a laden ship. 42 Means of Transport وَخَلَقْنَا لَهُم مِّن مِّثْلِهِ مَا يَرْكَبُونَ Wakhalaqnaa lahum mim mithlihi maa yarkaboon And We created for them from the likes of it that which they ride. 43 Power to Save or Drown وَإِن نَّشَأْ نُغْرِقْهُمْ فَلَا صَرِيخَ لَهُمْ وَلَا هُمْ يُنقَذُونَ Wa-in nasha’ nughriqhum falaa sareekha lahum walaa hum yunqathoon And if We should will, We could drown them; then no one responding to a cry would there be for them, nor would they be saved 44 Mercy and Enjoyment إِلَّا رَحْمَةً مِّنَّا وَمَتَاعًا إِلَىٰ حِينٍ Illaa rahmatan minnaa wamataa‘an ilaa heen Except as a mercy from Us and provision for a time. 45 Fear What is Before and Behind وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ اتَّقُوا مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَمَا خَلْفَكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ Wa-ithaa qeela lahumu ittaqoo maa bayna aydeekum wamaa khalfakum la‘allakum turhamoon And when it is said to them, "Fear what is before you and what is behind you; perhaps you will be shown mercy." 46 Rejecting the Signs وَمَا تَأْتِيهِم مِّنْ آيَةٍ مِّنْ آيَاتِ رَبِّهِمْ إِلَّا كَانُوا عَنْهَا مُعْرِضِينَ Wamaa ta’teehim min aayatin min aayaati rabbihim illaa kaanoo ‘anhaa mu‘rideen And no sign comes to them from the signs of their Lord except that they turn away therefrom. 47 Denying Charity وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ أَنفِقُوا مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ اللَّهُ قَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَنُطْعِمُ مَن لَّوْ يَشَاءُ اللَّهُ أَطْعَمَهُ إِنْ أَنتُمْ إِلَّا فِي ضَلَالٍ مُّبِينٍ Wa-ithaa qeela lahum anfiqoo mimmaa razaqakumullaahu qaalal-latheena kafaroo lillatheena aamanoo anut‘imu man law yashaa-ullaahu at‘amahu in antum illaa fee dalaalim mubeen And when it is said to them, "Spend from that which Allah has provided for you," those who disbelieve say to those who believe, "Should we feed one whom, if Allah had willed, He would have fed? You are not but in clear error." 48 Questioning the Hour وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَٰذَا الْوَعْدُ إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ Wayaqooloona mataa haathal-wa‘du in kuntum saadiqeen And they say, "When is this promise, if you should be truthful?" 49 A Single Blast مَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا صَيْحَةً وَاحِدَةً تَأْخُذُهُمْ وَهُمْ يَخِصِّمُونَ Maa yanthuroona illaa sayhatan waahidatan ta’khuthuhum wahum yakhissimoon They do not await except one blast, which will seize them while they are disputing. 50 No Time for Bequests فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ تَوْصِيَةً وَلَا إِلَىٰ أَهْلِهِمْ يَرْجِعُونَ Falaa yastatee‘oona tawsee-yatan walaa ilaa ahlihim yarji‘oon And they will not be able [to give] any instruction, nor to their people can they return. 51 The Trumpet Blast وَنُفِخَ فِي الصُّورِ فَإِذَا هُم مِّنَ الْأَجْدَاثِ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يَنسِلُونَ Wanufikha fis-soori fa-ithaa hum minal-ajdaathi ilaa rabbihim yansiloon And the Horn will be blown, and at once from the graves to their Lord they will hasten. 52 Resurrection Shock قَالُوا يَا وَيْلَنَا مَن بَعَثَنَا مِن مَّرْقَدِنَا ۖ هَٰذَا مَا وَعَدَ الرَّحْمَٰنُ وَصَدَقَ الْمُرْسَلُونَ Qaaloo yaa waylanaa man ba‘athanaa min marqadinaa haathaa maa wa‘adar-Rahmaanu wasadaqal-mursaloon They will say, "O woe to us! Who has raised us up from our sleeping place?" [The reply will be], "This is what the Most Merciful had promised, and the messengers told the truth." 53 A Single Cry إِن كَانَتْ إِلَّا صَيْحَةً وَاحِدَةً فَإِذَا هُمْ جَمِيعٌ لَّدَيْنَا مُحْضَرُونَ In kaanat illaa sayhatan waahidatan fa-ithaa hum jamee‘un ladaynaa muhdaroon It will not be but one blast, and at once they are all brought present before Us. 54 Justice on That Day فَالْيَوْمَ لَا تُظْلَمُ نَفْسٌ شَيْئًا وَلَا تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ Falyawma laa tuthlamu nafsun shay-an walaa tujzawna illaa maa kuntum ta‘maloon So today no soul will be wronged at all, and you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do. 55 People of Paradise إِنَّ أَصْحَابَ الْجَنَّةِ الْيَوْمَ فِي شُغُلٍ فَاكِهُونَ Inna ashaabal-jannatil-yawma fee shughulin faakihoon Indeed, the companions of Paradise, that Day, will be amused in [joyful] occupation - 56 Reclining in Paradise هُمْ وَأَزْوَاجُهُمْ فِي ظِلَالٍ عَلَى الْأَرَائِكِ مُتَّكِئُونَ Hum wa-azwaajuhum fee thilaalin ‘alal-araa-iki muttaki-oon They and their spouses - in shade, reclining on adorned couches. 57 Fruits and Desires لَهُمْ فِيهَا فَاكِهَةٌ وَلَهُم مَّا يَدَّعُونَ Lahum feehaa faakihatun walahum maa yadda‘oon For them therein is fruit, and for them is whatever they request [or wish]. 58 Greeting of Peace سَلَامٌ قَوْلًا مِّن رَّبٍّ رَّحِيمٍ Salaamun qawlan min rabbin raheem [And] "Peace," a word from a Merciful Lord. 59 Separation of the Criminals وَامْتَازُوا الْيَوْمَ أَيُّهَا الْمُجْرِمُونَ Wamtaazool-yawma ayyuhal-mujrimoon But [it will be said], "Separate, you criminals, this Day. 60 Covenant with Mankind أَلَمْ أَعْهَدْ إِلَيْكُمْ يَا بَنِي آدَمَ أَن لَّا تَعْبُدُوا الشَّيْطَانَ ۖ إِنَّهُ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّ مُّبِينٌ Alam a‘had ilaykum yaa banee aadama an laa ta‘budush-shaytaana innahu lakum ‘aduwwun mubeen Did I not enjoin upon you, O children of Adam, that you not worship Satan - [for] indeed, he is to you a clear enemy - 61 Worship Me Alone وَأَنِ اعْبُدُونِي ۚ هَٰذَا صِرَاطٌ مُّسْتَقِيمٌ Wa-ani u‘budoonee haathaa siraatun mustaqeem And that you worship [only] Me? This is a straight path. 62 Satan's Misguidance وَلَقَدْ أَضَلَّ مِنكُمْ جِبِلًّا كَثِيرًا ۖ أَفَلَمْ تَكُونُوا تَعْقِلُونَ Walaqad adalla minkum jibillan katheeran afalam takoonoo ta‘qiloon And he had already led astray from among you much of creation, so did you not use reason? 63 The Hellfire Promised هَٰذِهِ جَهَنَّمُ الَّتِي كُنتُمْ تُوعَدُونَ Haathihi jahannamul-latee kuntum too‘adoon This is the Hellfire which you were promised. 64 Enter the Fire اصْلَوْهَا الْيَوْمَ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَكْفُرُونَ Islawhal-yawma bimaa kuntum takfuroon [Enter to] burn therein today for what you used to deny." 65 Sealed Mouths الْيَوْمَ نَخْتِمُ عَلَىٰ أَفْوَاهِهِمْ وَتُكَلِّمُنَا أَيْدِيهِمْ وَتَشْهَدُ أَرْجُلُهُمْ بِمَا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ Alyawma nakhtimu ‘alaa afwaahihim watukallimunaa aydeehim watashhadu arjuluhum bimaa kaanoo yaksiboon That Day, We will seal over their mouths, and their hands will speak to Us, and their feet will testify about what they used to earn. 66 Power to Blind وَلَوْ نَشَاءُ لَطَمَسْنَا عَلَىٰ أَعْيُنِهِمْ فَاسْتَبَقُوا الصِّرَاطَ فَأَنَّىٰ يُبْصِرُونَ Walaw nashaa-u latamasnaa ‘alaa a‘yunihim fastabaqus-siraata fa-annaa yubsiroon And if We willed, We could have obliterated their eyes, and they would race to [find] the path, but how could they see? 67 Power to Transform وَلَوْ نَشَاءُ لَمَسَخْنَاهُمْ عَلَىٰ مَكَانَتِهِمْ فَمَا اسْتَطَاعُوا مُضِيًّا وَلَا يَرْجِعُونَ Walaw nashaa-u lamasakhnaahum ‘alaa makaanatihim famastataa‘oo mudiyyan walaa yarji‘oon And if We willed, We could have transformed them [into animals or lifeless objects] in their places; then they would not be able to proceed, nor could they return. 68 Aging and Decline وَمَنْ نُعَمِّرْهُ نُنَكِّسْهُ فِي الْخَلْقِ ۖ أَفَلَا يَعْقِلُونَ Waman nu'ammirhu nunakkis-hu fee al-khalqi afalaa ya'qiloon And he to whom We grant long life We reverse in creation; so will they not understand? 69 Not Poetry وَمَا عَلَّمْنَاهُ الشِّعْرَ وَمَا يَنبَغِي لَهُ ۚ إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ وَقُرْآنٌ مُّبِينٌ Wamaa 'allamnaahu ash-shi'ra wamaa yanbaghee lahu in huwa illaa thikrun waqur-aanun mubeen And We did not give Prophet Muhammad, knowledge of poetry, nor is it befitting for him. It is not but a message and a clear Qur'an 70 To Warn the Living لِّيُنذِرَ مَن كَانَ حَيًّا وَيَحِقَّ الْقَوْلُ عَلَى الْكَافِرِينَ Liyunthira man kaana hayyan wayahiqqa alqawlu 'alaa alkaafireen To warn whoever is alive and justify the word against the disbelievers. 71 Cattle as Sign أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا أَنَّا خَلَقْنَا لَهُم مِّمَّا عَمِلَتْ أَيْدِينَا أَنْعَامًا فَهُمْ لَهَا مَالِكُونَ Awalam yaraw annaa khalaqnaa lahum mimmaa 'amilat aydeenaa an'aaman fahum lahaa maalikoon Do they not see that We have created for them from what Our hands have made, grazing livestock. 72 Subjugated for Them وَذَلَّلْنَاهَا لَهُمْ فَمِنْهَا رَكُوبُهُمْ وَمِنْهَا يَأْكُلُونَ Wathallalnaahaa lahum faminhaa rakoobuhum waminhaa ya'kuloon And We have tamed them for them, so some of them they ride, and some of them they eat. 73 Benefits from Cattle وَلَهُمْ فِيهَا مَنَافِعُ وَمَشَارِبُ ۖ أَفَلَا يَشْكُرُونَ Walahum feehaa manaafi'u wamashaaribu afalaa yashkuroon And for them therein are [other] benefits and drinks, so will they not be grateful? 74 False Gods وَاتَّخَذُوا مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ آلِهَةً لَّعَلَّهُمْ يُنصَرُونَ Waittakhathoo min dooni Allaahi aalihatan la'allahum yunsaroon But they have taken besides Allah [false] deities that perhaps they would be helped. 75 Idols Cannot Help لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ نَصْرَهُمْ وَهُمْ لَهُمْ جُندٌ مُّحْضَرُونَ Laa yastatee'oona nasrahum wahum lahum jundun muhdaroon They are not able to help them, but they will be brought forward as a troop [against those who worshipped them]. 76 Do Not Be Grieved فَلَا يَحْزُنكَ قَوْلُهُمْ ۘ إِنَّا نَعْلَمُ مَا يُسِرُّونَ وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَ Falaa yahzunka qawluhum innaa na'lamu maa yusirroona wamaa yu'linoon So let not their speech grieve you. Indeed, We know what they conceal and what they declare. 77 Creation from Fluid أَوَلَمْ يَرَ الْإِنسَانُ أَنَّا خَلَقْنَاهُ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ فَإِذَا هُوَ خَصِيمٌ مُّبِينٌ Awalam yara al-insaanu annaa khalaqnaahu min nutfatin fa-ithaa huwa khaseemun mubeen Does man not consider that We created him from a [mere] sperm-drop - then at once he is a clear adversary? 78 Parable of Bones وَضَرَبَ لَنَا مَثَلًا وَنَسِيَ خَلْقَهُ ۖ قَالَ مَن يُحْيِي الْعِظَامَ وَهِيَ رَمِيمٌ Wadaraba lanaa mathalan wanasiya khalqahu qaala man yuhyee al'ithaama wahiya rameem And he presents for Us an example and forgets his [own] creation. He says, "Who will give life to bones while they are disintegrated?" 79 Creator Will Revive قُلْ يُحْيِيهَا الَّذِي أَنشَأَهَا أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ ۖ وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ خَلْقٍ عَلِيمٌ Qul yuhyeehaa allathee anshaahaa awwala marratin wahuwa bikulli khalqin 'aleem Say, "He will give them life who produced them the first time; and He is, of all creation, Knowing." 80 Fire from Green Trees الَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنَ الشَّجَرِ الْأَخْضَرِ نَارًا فَإِذَا أَنتُم مِّنْهُ تُوقِدُونَ Allathee ja'ala lakum mina ashshajari al-akhdari naaran fa-ithaa antum minhu tooqidoon [It is] He who made for you from the green tree, fire, and then from it you ignite. 81 Creator of Heavens and Earth أَوَلَيْسَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ بِقَادِرٍ عَلَىٰ أَن يَخْلُقَ مِثْلَهُم ۚ بَلَىٰ وَهُوَ الْخَلَّاقُ الْعَلِيمُ Awalaysa allathee khalaqa assamaawaati wal-arda biqaadirin 'alaa an yakhluqa mithlahum balaa wahuwa alkhallaaqu al'aleem Is not He who created the heavens and the earth Able to create the likes of them? Yes, [it is so]; and He is the Knowing Creator. 82 His Command is "Be" إِنَّمَا أَمْرُهُ إِذَا أَرَادَ شَيْئًا أَن يَقُولَ لَهُ كُن فَيَكُونُ Innamaa amruhu ithaa araada shay-an an yaqoola lahu kun fayakoon His command is only when He intends a thing that He says to it, "Be," and it is. 83 The Ultimate Power of Allah فَسُبْحَانَ الَّذِي بِيَدِهِ مَلَكُوتُ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ Fasubhaana allathee biyadihi malakootu kulli shay-in wa-ilayhi turja'oon So exalted is He in whose hand is the dominion of all things, and to Him you will be returned. 1 10 20 30 40 50 60 70 80 Listen to Surah Yaseen Beautiful Recitation by Sheikh Mishary Rashid Alafasy Click play to listen to the melodious recitation of Surah Yaseen Note: The audio may take a moment to load depending on your internet connection.
